How many frames can 75Hz run?
Share
A 75Hz monitor can display up to 75 frames per second (FPS).
- Hz (Hertz) refers to the refresh rate of a monitor, which is how many times per second the screen refreshes to display new information.
- FPS (frames per second) refers to how many frames the graphics card can render and send to the monitor each second.
If your system can output more than 75 FPS, the monitor will still be limited to 75 FPS, since that's its maximum refresh rate. This means that even if your GPU is rendering at 100 FPS, the monitor can only display 75 of those frames each second, and the extra frames are essentially wasted (though technologies like V-Sync or FreeSync can help manage this).
On the other hand, if your system is producing fewer than 75 FPS, the monitor will display all the frames it receives, so you won’t be able to fully utilize the 75Hz refresh rate in those cases.
