Who is Shenron afraid of?

Shenron, the Eternal Dragon in the Dragon Ball universe, is a powerful and revered figure. As the dragon summoned by gathering all seven Dragon Balls, Shenron has the ability to grant wishes and perform extraordinary feats. However, like many powerful entities in the Dragon Ball world, Shenron's abilities and limitations come into question when we think about who, if anyone, the mighty dragon could fear.

Although Shenron is usually portrayed as confident and omnipotent within his own domain, there are several characters in the Dragon Ball universe that might be considered capable of intimidating or even defeating Shenron, depending on the circumstances.

1. The Dragon God – Super Shenron

Shenron's power is dwarfed by that of Super Shenron, the dragon who resides in the Dragon Ball Super universe. Summoned by gathering the Super Dragon Balls (which are much larger than the regular Dragon Balls), Super Shenron is an even more powerful entity capable of granting any wish without restrictions. Given that Super Shenron is essentially a more advanced version of Shenron, it stands to reason that Shenron may "fear" Super Shenron in a symbolic sense, as the latter’s power surpasses his own.

2. Zeno (The Omni-King)

Zeno, also known as the Omni-King, is the supreme ruler of all universes in the Dragon Ball multiverse. Zeno holds absolute authority and can destroy entire universes on a whim. In comparison to Shenron, who can grant powerful wishes, Zeno’s abilities are essentially limitless. Shenron, being a being who is bound by the laws of the Dragon Balls and the wishes made by mortals, would likely fear Zeno. If Zeno were to wish for Shenron’s destruction, the dragon would have no means of defending himself, as Zeno has complete control over existence itself.

3. Beerus, The God of Destruction

Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7, is an extremely powerful being with the ability to destroy entire planets with a simple gesture. While Shenron has the power to grant wishes, he is still bound to the limitations of the Dragon Balls, which can only grant wishes within certain constraints. Beerus has demonstrated a high level of control over the Dragon Balls in the past, and his destructive nature might lead Shenron to view him as a potential threat. While Shenron may not directly "fear" Beerus, there is certainly a level of respect and caution that would be present when in the presence of a being so incredibly powerful.

4. The Grand Priest

The Grand Priest is one of the highest-ranking beings in the Dragon Ball multiverse, serving as a supreme angel and advisor to the gods. With immense power and authority, the Grand Priest is a being capable of effortlessly controlling and manipulating time, space, and existence. If anyone in the Dragon Ball multiverse could threaten Shenron's existence, it would be the Grand Priest, whose power and influence extend far beyond the reach of most other beings.

5. Whis (Beerus' Angel)

Whis, as Beerus' attendant and angel, is a powerful being who serves as a guide to the God of Destruction. While Whis does not act in a destructive manner like Beerus, he possesses powers that are far superior to most characters in the Dragon Ball universe. Whis is shown to be faster than anyone else, able to reverse time for a few seconds, and even outclass Beerus in certain situations. Although Shenron is not likely to "fear" Whis in a conventional sense, he would be wise to be cautious, given Whis' immense power.

6. The Kais (Supreme Kai)

The Supreme Kai, being one of the deities in charge of maintaining the balance of the universe, holds significant power and influence. While the Kais don't possess direct abilities that can threaten Shenron’s existence, their status as divine beings and their connection to the creation and destruction of worlds might make them capable of countering Shenron’s power if need be.

7. Other Dragons or Entities

Shenron may also fear or be cautious around other dragons from different universes or beings with the ability to interfere with the Dragon Balls. For instance, Black Smoke Shenron, a corrupted version of Shenron from the Dragon Ball GT series, showed the potential for a darker and more dangerous manifestation of the Eternal Dragon. These versions of Shenron may have the power to challenge the original dragon’s will.

Conclusion: Shenron's Limitations and Fear

While Shenron is one of the most powerful entities in the Dragon Ball universe, he is still bound by the rules of the Dragon Balls and the beings who control them. Zeno, Beerus, the Grand Priest, and possibly Whis are among the few characters who might pose a genuine threat to Shenron or who might be perceived as beings that Shenron should fear due to their absolute power and authority.

Ultimately, Shenron's existence is defined by his role as a wish-granting dragon, and while he holds immense power, his influence is not limitless. In the presence of beings whose powers transcend even that of the Dragon Balls, Shenron’s fear would come from their overwhelming ability to disrupt or destroy him.
