what does sun wukong wear on his head?

Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, wears a magical golden headband (referred to as the "golden circlet" or "tightening headband"). This headband was given to him by the monk Tang Sanzang (Tripitaka) as part of a method to control him during their journey.

The headband was put on Sun Wukong’s head as a restraint, and whenever Sun Wukong disobeyed or became unruly, the monk would recite a specific chant that would cause the headband to tighten, inflicting pain on him. Despite his incredible strength and powers, Sun Wukong couldn't remove the headband on his own.

The headband symbolizes discipline and control, reminding Sun Wukong of his need to keep his impulsive and rebellious nature in check during their mission.
