Why Has Piccolo Never Fought Vegeta?
Partager
In Dragon Ball, almost every major fighter has crossed fists at some point, yet Piccolo and Vegeta have never had a real one-on-one battle. Given their strength and rivalry within the Z Fighters, this seems surprising. So, why have they never fought? Let’s break it down.
1. Piccolo and Vegeta's First Encounter – No Time to Fight
The first time Piccolo and Vegeta were in the same battle was during the Saiyan Saga. However, the circumstances prevented a direct fight:
- Piccolo was killed by Nappa before he had the chance to take on Vegeta.
- When Vegeta fought Goku, Gohan, and Krillin, Piccolo was already out of the picture.
- If Piccolo had survived, a fight might have happened – but fate had other plans.
This meant that their rivalry never had the chance to develop early on.
2. The Namek Saga – Piccolo’s Power Wasn’t Enough
During the Namek Saga, Vegeta and Piccolo were both hunting for the Dragon Balls but at different times.
- Piccolo was revived and fused with Nail, making him way stronger than before.
- However, Vegeta was also constantly increasing in power, reaching new levels after each battle.
- By the time they were both active on Namek, the real enemy was Frieza, and they had no reason to fight each other.
Since their goals aligned against Frieza, a battle between them never made sense at this stage.
3. Android & Cell Saga – Piccolo Was Close, But Not Enough
The closest moment we ever got to a fight between Piccolo and Vegeta was during the Android and Cell Sagas.
- After fusing with Kami, Piccolo briefly became one of the strongest fighters, surpassing even Super Saiyan Vegeta for a short time.
- However, Vegeta’s Super Saiyan evolution soon left Piccolo behind.
- They were both focused on stopping the Androids and Cell, which kept them from direct conflict.
At this point, Vegeta still mocked Piccolo’s strength, but he never saw him as a true rival worth fighting.
4. The Buu Saga – Piccolo Knew It Was Pointless
By the Majin Buu Saga, the power gap between Vegeta and Piccolo had grown too large.
- Majin Vegeta was a force to be reckoned with, rivaling even Super Saiyan 2 Goku.
- Piccolo had accepted his limitations, acting more as a mentor and strategist than a frontline fighter.
- Even when Vegeta destroyed Babidi’s ship, Piccolo didn’t challenge him, knowing it was futile.
At this point, Piccolo and Vegeta respected each other, but there was no reason for them to fight.
5. Dragon Ball Super – The Respect Between Them
By Dragon Ball Super, Piccolo and Vegeta had fully moved past any possible rivalry.
- Piccolo acknowledged Vegeta’s growth as a warrior and father.
- Vegeta saw Piccolo as a reliable ally and didn’t treat him as an enemy anymore.
- Piccolo trained with Gohan, while Vegeta focused on surpassing Goku, leading them on different paths.
At this stage, a fight would have no purpose—they had developed a strong, unspoken respect for each other.
Will Piccolo and Vegeta Ever Fight?
Given their history and mutual respect, it’s unlikely that Piccolo and Vegeta will ever have a full battle. However:
✔️ If Piccolo undergoes another powerful transformation, a fight could finally happen.
✔️ A friendly sparring match could take place to test their abilities.
✔️ In an alternate timeline or special event, we might see them clash.
For now, Piccolo and Vegeta’s bond is built on teamwork, not conflict. Their story isn’t about rivalry—it’s about growth, strategy, and survival.
Final Thoughts
Piccolo and Vegeta never fought simply because they never had to. Their battles were always against greater threats, and as the years passed, their relationship shifted from hostility to respect.
Even without a fight, their dynamic is one of the most interesting in Dragon Ball—a warrior prince and a Namekian strategist, both striving to protect Earth in their own ways.
